Here at Specialty Cases, we pride ourselves in getting to know you, our customers, so we can best understand how to give you what you need. We know that your gear is precious to you and that you should not trust just any old fly-by-night company to protect it for you. You want to know who you’re dealing with. In that light, we thought it important to introduce you to the brains behind our business. What follows is an interview with our CEO of the last ten years, and your Case Coach, Kiersten Gillespie, discussing where we’re going, what we’re doing, and how we got here.
Where do you see Specialty Cases in the next 5 years?
Using innovation, creativity, and teamwork we will offer the most relevant shipping case solutions for our customers. We will expand our market reach by listening to our clients’ needs and implementing any necessary changes.
What is the most important thing to you at Specialty Cases?
I’m most proud of the fact that the lion’s share of our products is manufactured in the United States. Specialty Cases’ product quality is unmatched and the lifetime warranties back up that claim. Our cases are used by FEMA, the Aerospace industry, military operations, and law enforcement. We often get cases delivered at the perfect time to help responders in emergencies and disasters where lives are on the line. It is satisfying to make a difference in our communities by providing cases that keep crucial electronic equipment and computer technology protected, protecting military firearms and equipment from the hazards of the battlefield, and more.
How has Specialty Cases progressed since you joined the team and became president?
Specialty Cases has added many new product lines to meet the needs of as many people as possible. We’ve discovered this is crucial in giving customers more of what they need. Our website has been designed to be the most informative and user-friendly platform it can be, so customers can easily find the best product for their needs.
We never say “no”. When people come to us for help, we want to be able to give it to them as quickly and completely as possible. If we don’t carry what a customer needs, we go out of our way to try and find someone who does. We don’t have salespeople. Rather, we are a team – a family. Our job is simple - to help people.

How did you come to work in this industry?
I started as a temp employee at a packaging sales company, Fiber Products Industrial in 1993. I learned everything I could by serving in different roles throughout the company - from an assistant to a salesperson. I learned a lot about various packaging products, but also how to run a successful business.
We sold items such as shrink wrap, stretch wrap, tapes, corrugated cartons, cushioning products, and application equipment. I met John Gump when he was working for a foam manufacturing company. In 2004, John bought Specialty Cases from the previous owner and hired me to handle daily operations for the company. Then, in 2014, I purchased the company from him when he retired. It was the best decision I’ve made, and this industry has been interesting and challenging, but also very rewarding!
